Tuan from IDS called back and saying that the display assembly for the PCA Pump is the right PCB board. The last pin is not in use. However, the problem still the same after replacing the board. I looked through the service manual and check whether the contrast of the display. Unfortunately, there is not adjustment of contrast function for the configuration mode.

There were much repair to do for the first two weeks of repair and preventive maintenance can be done in 2 weeks. Repair for intensive care unit and emergency ward seems like the first priority. Two intermittent suction units were sent down to the workshop. Both of them having the same problem which is no suction for intermittent mode. While i analyzed the problem, i found out that there is suction for continuous mode. I look through the service manual and found out the timing and flow control valves were turn to the extreme clockwise from the troubleshooting section. I attempted to adjust the valves but the problem still exist.

I got the chance to see the older model of defibrillator and vital sign spot monitor. There is a fault for the vital sign spot monitor which is the SpO2 readings could not be shown. Initially, it is unable to record the reading. After a few attempts, i find that the reading will not be immediated and takes longer time compared to the later model. I took the service manual as i am not sure how to go to the service mode to adjust the time as the time is off. I got to more things about servicing compared to the past.

We continue what we had done for yesterday. I just found out that we had about 20 of vital sign spot monitor on our list. We spent the whole entire day searching and replacing those that we took for preventive maintenance. Searching for a device does not seems like an easy task since the only source for the location of device is the nurses. Sometimes, they may rememember it vividly.

I feel that it is our responsibility to find the device on ourselves instead of relying on the nurses to search for us on our behalf. We just locate a quite old model of defibrillator which PM is due on march this year. It usually happened like that as the device may hidden somewhere and unable to be found.

At 4pm, we managed to finish all 20 of them. I felt quite relieved as we finally completed pm for that particular device. However, there are still many different devices.

We went to Clinic C and J to collect the electrical sphygonomamometer (NIBP) for preventive maintenance as there are quite a number of them due this month. Besides the safety leakage current test, pressure, temperature and accessories tests are to be done necessarily inclusive of battery test. A pressure tester is required to check for the accuracy of pressure of the device. Temperature test is carried out by putting the temperature probe into a cup of warm water and using thermometer to measure the temperature.

Around 10 am, zhong hong's colleagues and him came by to my workplace to deliver sleep studies equipments as they are bought for research. However, not all the equipments are received so we were unable to do the commissioning for it. It was nice to see him again after 3 months since i last saw him.

In the afternoon, we went to Clinic C to do a thorough clean-up of indirect opthalmoscopes. There are about 6 indirect opthalmoscopes in Clinic C. We wiped the lens with tissue and small pump to blow the dust away.

Since there is only a technician available today and many devices required for repair, we decided to stay in the workplace to do as much repair as possible. However, we only managed to complete about 6 devices. They consist mostly sphygonomamometers ( manual BP set) and infusion pumps. Mr Toh managed to locate an infusion pump that was due last month. The only problem is the maintenance was done in october 2005. There were quite a few complications. However, we managed to settle with the date of maintenance which is every june.

There was a commissioning for Welch Allyn Propaq CS424. Few basic tests were done to check the functioning of the propaq. To check whether the accessories working as well and waveforms are able to be formed on the screen.

A new arrived ECG device is sent to BME for commissioning. The date of commissioning is not yet booked. However, i did try to play around with the device using patient simulator. This ECG device, ECG typewriter/interpreter Trim 3, from philips looks a lot better than the older ECG devices as it is more compact and having colour screen. There are more functions such as you are able to select what type of filter you want to filter off the noise and transfer the report in terms of USB stick or fax. I think i was pretty amazed by it.
